The President's Message

 One year ago I agreed to serve as President of PAGR. In that year I realized that we have great untapped potential. While we do a great job bringing our members first class speakers and providing information, we have not been terribly proactive.
Our members have a wealth of skills and perspectives; and PAGR needs to make better use of them. PAGR's committees have been dormant for the past few years. In fact, because they have been inactive, members have not been joining committees. I'm asking you to change that. When you renew your membership for 2008, please take the time to sign up for one or more of our committees. I don't want these to be “paper committees”, I want to see these committees function and do the work of PAGR. Too often the work falls to the board or Christine (because we didn't ask for help?). The board is made up of eleven people- PAGR has 330 members; I know that with fuller participation from the membership we can accomplish so much more.
Speaking of the PAGR Board and staff I really need to thank them for this past year. To Christine for keeping us on track and making me and the Board look good. And to the Board for providing direction to our Association. I don’t want to single anyone out but I need to thank Ted Mowatt for his work as our Program Committee Chair; he has insured that we have had quality (and entertaining) speakers at all of our meetings.
The Holiday Season is upon us and I hope that you are able to take some time to be with those who are important to you.
